When I started my job here at South Tama County I was told that it would be hard to recruit quality to applicants for our open positions given the semi-rural location of our district. Call me an optimist, but I refused to buy in to the idea that we couldn't recruit quality applicants to our district. One of the ideas we implemented right away was to start an Employee Referral Bonus. I love the idea of having all 250ish of our employees helping to recruit employees to our district. Although referral bonuses are very common in the business world, I have seen very few school districts use this incentive with their employees. It's a small gesture, but a definite "win-win" for building culture and recruiting employees.
